Client Background and Objectives

Skin & Scent Company specialise in luxury skincare products enriched with natural ingredients. For the launch of their new brand they required a bespoke packaging solution with a simple logo on top, some text inside the lid and a barcode and company details on the bottom that would reflect the elegance of the brand whilst protecting the delicate glass bottles.

Customisation requirements:

Accurate size: as the bottles need to fit into the box, the size needs to be very accurate, even to the point of being able to accommodate multiple sizes of bottles without compromising on protection or presentation.

Box style: a magnet box would be more suitable, but because of the lack of storage space, we need to make sure we have enough room and will also consider folding boxes.

Custom insert: think about it, can the inserts that hold the bottles be easily replaced? Can I make a box in a size to accommodate different inserts for multiple products?

Elegant design: the top of the box needs to have the logo and name. Both the logo and text should be printed in black, (not colour or greyscale) and the packaging must reflect the brand's high-end aesthetic, incorporating logo elements and sophisticated finish options.

Timely delivery: expect to receive the goods in time for Christmas.

Packaging solutions for Crown Win

1. Initial consultation and requirements gathering

We went through an in-depth communication with the Skin & Scent team. Discussions centred around the specific dimensions of their glass bottles, preferred box styles, brand guidelines and sustainability goals. This step laid a clear foundation for design and production.

2. Custom box and insert design

Inserts: Our design team researched and typically, for bottles, most opted for EVA inserts to protect the glass product, which can securely support the glass bottle.

Box structure: We compare the two options of magnet box and folding box. Folding box can be folded, but it needs to pack the EVA individually, and even the cost of assembling, while the magnet box only needs a whole package, and even saves the cost of assembling, so the magnet box will be more suitable.

Size Adaptability: The customisation tool ensures that the box can seamlessly accommodate 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles, so we suggested to get a sample of glass bottles, which perfectly reproduces the size of the glass bottles.

3. Logo and brand integration

In order to amplify the brand's image, we did a partial UV printing on the lid of the box to highlight the logo with a glossy finish. Both the logo and the text should be printed in black, complementing the brand's natural, calm aesthetic.

4. Manufacturing and delivery

Once the design was complete, we started mass production. Because the client needed to receive the goods in December to be able to launch the product during Christmas, the time was very urgent, so our plan was that part of it would first be delivered to the client quickly by courier so that the client would have plenty of time to get ready for the product launch, and the remaining part would be shipped by sea to save costs. The final solution was unanimously approved by the customer.

The customised packaging became an extension of Skin & Scent's premium image, attracting attention on retail shelves and in social media unboxing videos, greatly enhancing product value and brand image.
